Winterflush: A Temporary Garden, 1989

Three angled growing beds filled with compost (made from bags of shredded computer paper we found on the street and pasteurized in the gallery) were inoculated with mushroom spawn and produced oyster mushrooms in great quantities on the ninth day.
Installation, Artists Space, New York, NY, March 1989. Wood, compost, humidifiers, gro-lights, windows, hardware, water, electricity, wild mushroom spawn (pleurotus ostreatus).
